A Legacy Steeped in Wine
The soul of each variety in a bottle
— Berol Vineyards
Where Our Story Starts
Situated at an altitude of 450 meters and 125 meters above the Arga River, our vineyards enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. With an average annual rainfall of 350 liters and 2,000 hours of glorious Spanish sunshine, our vineyards benefit from an ideal Mediterranean climate for grape cultivation. However, it is not just the climate that defines the quality of our wines. The soil, rich in clay and limestone, bears the marks of centuries of alluvial deposits, while the scattered stones ensure optimal drainage, providing our vines with the right balance of nutrients, minerals, and moisture.
The Marqués de Berol vineyards in Falces are steeped in a rich history that dates back to the time of Santiago, spanning millennia. These lands benefit from an ideal Spanish climate and a soil structure with superb nutritional conditions, drainage, and aeration, creating the perfect environment for vine cultivation.
These elements combine to produce wines of extraordinary polyphenolic quality that, in favorable years, achieve EXCELLENCE.
In this idyllic setting, we cultivate a diverse range of grape varieties, each carefully selected to thrive in our unique terroir. We grow bold and robust Tempranillo, velvety Merlot, elegant and classic Cabernet Sauvignon, and Garnacha, which reaches a uniquely fruity character in this terroir. Our vineyard is a mosaic of flavors waiting to be transformed into wine. Some of our vines have stood for more than half a century. From meticulous pruning to judicious irrigation, every step of the grape-growing process is executed with care and precision, ensuring that only the best fruit reaches our wines.
— Oenologist
Manuel Rojas
We introduce Manuel Rojas.
His motto is:
“I don’t seek to be the best wine author,
I want to be the author who produces
the wine our clients ask for.”
His love for the world of wine comes from his maternal grandfather, Don Leandro, who instilled in him the essence of caring for and making wine from an early age. Manuel was captivated by the art of winemaking. Learning from his grandfather, he absorbed his teachings like a sponge, mastering the secrets of the soil and the vines. Over time, Manuel’s skills were solidified with studies and experiences in different wine regions of the world, directing and advising different renowned wineries.
Throughout his career, Manuel has remained true to his roots, creating wines that honor his heritage. His dedication to quality and originality is unmatched, and his wines have been praised by wine lovers around the world. As we have mentioned, Manuel has worked in numerous renowned wineries throughout his career and has managed the largest winery in Spain. Today, Manuel continues to lead our Bodega Berol, which is his creation, and enjoys the luxury of bringing his vision to life, guiding every step of the winemaking process with care and expertise. His touch is evident in every bottle, making each sip a true delight.
In Manuel Rojas, we have not just a winemaker, but a man who creates a legacy, with his teams and collaborators being his greatest work, of which, like his wines, he is most proud.
Manuel Rojas, with more than 45 harvests of experience in various wine regions (Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Priorat in Spain, and Napa Valley in the U.S., Curicó in Chile, or Mendoza in Argentina), personally supervises on-site to assess the start of the harvest, once phenolic ripeness has been confirmed, and carefully selects the grapes.
At Bodega Berol, we greatly value his leadership, as his extensive experience and deep knowledge of viticulture are undeniable and invaluable.
— Technologies
Perfect symbiosis of technology
and tradition
Our state-of-the-art facilities feature the most advanced technology in winemaking, allowing us to manage every stage of production with precision: from the careful grape harvesting, fermentation, aging, bottling, and packaging.
We use the latest bottling and labeling equipment to eliminate any quality issues. Our production team rigorously supervises each batch through strict protocols and quality controls, ensuring that the bottle’s appearance matches the excellence of its contents. Our flexibility and production capacity are demonstrated in our ability to use both natural cork and screw caps in a variety of bottle sizes. We automate processes where machines excel, allowing our team to focus on quality control and supervision.
Beyond our private vineyards, we collaborate with selected vineyards in New World regions such as Chile, New Zealand, and Georgia. This unique collaboration allows us to bottle blends of wines from different terroirs and climates, adding diversity and variety to our selection, combining Old World craftsmanship with New World innovation.
At Marqués de Berol, we believe in creating more than just wine and crafting it with more than just machines.
Our goal is to create experiences that unify and celebrate life’s rich moments.
Whether through tours of our vineyards, tastings in our contemporary tasting room, or enjoying our wine at home, we are dedicated to offering memorable experiences that begin with a sip of our carefully crafted wines.
— Our Wines
A Legacy Steeped in Wine
From the sun-kissed vineyard to the warm embrace of the bottle, the wines of Bodega Marqués de Berol are a labor of love from start to finish. Step into our winery, nestled in the serene countryside of Corella, and discover the meticulous processes that transform grapes into exceptional wines.
As the grapes make their journey from the vine to the fermentation tanks, we treat them with the utmost care to ensure their inherent qualities are preserved. Our winemakers employ a delicate balance between time-honored traditions and cutting-edge technologies to extract and preserve the finest flavors and aromas from each grape. Combining traditional methods with the latest technological advancements, we carefully guide the grapes through every stage of the winemaking process, from pressing to precisely controlled fermentation. This allows us to craft not only dry wines but also semi-sweet versions of young wines.
For processes such as cryogenic fermentation, essential for making our renowned semi-sweet wines, specialized equipment and expertise are crucial. Fortunately, we have a large number of 27-ton stainless steel tanks equipped with cooling jackets, enabling us to carry out this process with precision. After careful selection, the finest red wine blends are aged in our 100% French oak barrels, where they develop rich flavors, aromas, and complexity. Once the winemaking process is complete, we bottle the wine, subjecting it to rigorous quality controls before storing it for a time, enhancing and rounding out its elegance before sending it to you.
But it is not just science and technology that define our wines; most importantly, what makes our wines so treasured is the human touch. Our experienced winemaker, Manuel Rojas, driven by a deep passion for his craft, brings his intuition and knowledge to every batch. Daily chemical and physical analyses, combined with the art of tasting, allow us to fine-tune each blend to perfection, ensuring it develops its own unique personality and character.
So, when you uncork a bottle of Marqués de Berol, you’re not just tasting a wine; you’re savoring the fruits of our meticulous labor, the essence of our land, and the soul of the human team that forms Marqués de Berol.
Let’s toast to the journey from vineyard to bottle, where every sip tells a story of dedication, craftsmanship, and the timeless beauty of Spain’s winemaking heritage.
